Day 01: Yuksom (1,750.mtrs) to Khechoperi (1,800.mtrs) 4 to 5 hours.
After breakfast trek beginning from Yuksam the trail gradual demand towards from Ladung Bridge near Leathang (Lepcha village) Keep continue to the motorable road after few minutes you will reach from Leathang Lepcha Village. From here the trail again gradual ascend towards from Khecheoperi Lake. Khecheoperi Lake is regarded as one of the most sacred Lake and one of the tourist hotspot place for all the time. Many people come to over here for worship and offering. Khecheopalri Lake is sacred for both Buddhists and Hindus and is believed to be a wish fulfilling lake.
The khecheoperi lake origin from Yuksom before many years ago. His origin place is called Labding. After Yuksom shifted from Cho-Sho near from Dofuk village. Cho-Sho it is behind the present place from Khecheoperi Lake at that time the Khecheoparli Lake is quite big and Cho-Sho his second birthplace is inferior and it is a too congested place. And the Khecheoparli Lake again shifted from present place.
Before shifting the Khecheoperi Lake from Yuksom. The people are very less and the people staying with many horses, yak, and cows. Sometimes the animals died. The peoples used to put them into the lake, then the lake became dirty by the action of peoples. Then the lake moves to another place from Cho-Sho. Near Khecheoprali village.
The Khecheopalri Lake is also part of Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit involving the Yuksom Dubdi Monastery,Pemayangtse Monastery,Rabdentse ruins, Sanga Choeling Monastery, and Tashiding Monastery.An interesting feature of the lake is that leaves are not allowed to float on the lake, which is ensured by the birds which industriously pick them up as soon as they drop into the lake surface. In morning You can get taxis, vehicles for Pelling,Gayzing, and Gangtok around Khecheoprali village homestay, hotel are available here. Overnight tent/Homestay.
Day 02: Khechuperi (2,226.mtrs) to Darap village (1,526.mtrs) 4 to 5 hours.
In morning before breakfast, you can visit Lake and monastery and have your breakfast then start trek for next camp. This day some time the trail through to the village an about 4 to 5 hours walk. The trail keeps continuing on the motorable road towards from first small stream. Here the trail gradual ascends from Melli Dara near Melli monastery and a nice spot for the photography of Majestic views of snow-capped mountains. And the trail gradual descend towards from Rimbi powerhouse After powerhouse the trail cross over the bridge then the trail steep ascend towards from Darap Village.the Darap village is one of the small town and tourist sports places.The area is mainly inhabited by the Limboo Community and other small communities like the Bhutias, Chettris, Tamangs, Rais, Gurungs, and Lepchas live in harmony. The landscape is gently sloped unlike any other locations in the west of Sikkim. Overnights at camping/hotel.
Day03: Darap Village (1,526.mtrs) to Pelling (1,992.mtrs). Via Ghaddi Dara
This day after breakfast trek to pelling the trail is easy and walk along on the motorable road it is about 2 hours walk. After arriving pelling check in camp or hotel and keep your bag pack then hike freely. This is an awesome location, one and a half kilometers away from pelling you will enjoy the walk through the dense forest, and once you finally reach, you will be amazed. Not much of ancient architecture to see, most of it is destroyed, by natural climates, but it is well maintained and very few tourist visits the place, makes it quite enjoyable.
The Rabdentse ruins
Rabdentse was the second capital of the former kingdom of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. The capital city was destroyed by the invading Gurkha army and only the ruins of the palace and the chortens are seen here now. However, the ruins of this city are seen close to Pelling in West Sikkim. It was first established in 1670 by Tensung Namgyal son of Phuntsog Namgyal by shifting from the first capital of Yuksom that was consecrated in 1642.
The Rabdentse ruins are part of Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit starting with the first monastery at Yuksom known as the Dubdi Monastery, followed by Norbugang Chorten, Tashiding Monastery, the Pemayangtse Monastery, the Sanga Choeling Monastery, and the Khecheopalri Lake. After The Rabdentse Ruins trek for the pemayangtse monastery.
The Pemayangtse Monastery
The Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Sikkim near Pelling designed and founded by Lama Lhatchen Chempo in 1705, it is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim, also the most famous in west Sikkim.Originally built by Lhatchen Chenpo in the 17th century, as a small Lhakhang, it was subsequently enlarged during the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal who was considered as Lhatchen Chenpo’s third reincarnate, Jigme Pawo. Further visiting pemayangtse you will have lunch. In evening overnight at camping /Hotel.
Day 04: lave to Pelling to Airport / Railway Station (Drive).
After having breakfast, we depart to NJP or Bagdogra Airport depending upon the trekker’s mode of transportation to their respective homes. It is advisable to start early since it is a long drive. We suggest packing the luggage in advance before starting to your journey. The distance from NJP/ Bagdogra airport is 155 kilometers which ideally should not take more than 7 to 8 hours. Lunch can be enjoyed at Jorethang or Malli Checkpost. After having lunch, continue your drive to your destination at the N J P/Bagdogra Airport.
